Grrrr Banks mergingekelly4200 10-15-2006, 08:28 PM I have my checking account with Northfork and found out they are merging with Capitol1...which is included in our BK. Look for a clause that allows the bank to move money between your accounts at Northfork. To be 100% safe in this situation, you can choose to open a new checking account at another bank that is not affiliated with CapOne. ekelly4200 10-15-2006, 09:56 PM It depends on the language in your original checking account agreement. I am in the chex system. JusticeForAll 10-16-2006, 03:28 AM Wow! I'm blown away! I can't believe Northfork is merging with Capital One! They just merged with Greenpoint about a year ago and haven't even finished updating their signs, logo's etc. I despise Northfork Bank. They violated the Auto Stay like 50 times and they are currently violating the permanent injunction of my discharge by reporting late payments starting 6 months after I filed. They report current for the first 6 months of my BK, then all of the sudden starting reporting lates and CHARGE OFF after they had already reported IBB (they dropped off the IBB, changed it to charge off and lots of lates). I'm not sure those idiots know how to report it. Anyway, eKelly, when I filed I closed my Northfork accounts (because I had an overdraft LOC) and opened an account at WAMU. I'm not in the Chex System, but when I was sitting in WAMU to open the account, they didn't seem to check to see if I was in that system. ekelly4200 10-16-2006, 03:34 AM [ Anyway, eKelly, when I filed I closed my Northfork accounts (because I had an overdraft LOC) and opened an account at WAMU. Knowing there was gonna be trouble I opened Greenpoint acct before I was reported lol. But a few months later I went to Green where I had the new acct to open a savings account. Went thru on the spot but after I left is when they ran me through the system and by the time I got home there was a message that my new savings acct was cancelled and closed. I know there are 2 diff reporting systems and I may have to research who uses the other one and apply there. JusticeForAll 10-16-2006, 03:55 AM guess i'm behind in local news since this merger was announced in August :blush2: good luck ekelly, i hope you can find a decent bank account. they probably won't do anything to your account, but i don't trust any of 'em anymore, and if it were me, i'd be looking around. i guess it's going to be tough with that e-chex thing. | |
