How do use PACER to find a lawyer?

I live in a very rural part of Colorado. There is 1 BR lawyer in our yellow pages. I read that I could do a PACER search to find lawyers that file a lot of cases. How would I do this search and not rack up big charges?

    Thanks!

    That's tough to answer.

As we were going thru attny selection, I'd look each attny up on PACER to see how long they'd been in practice, how many BK's they'd handled, and take a look at some cases. Get a feel for how they did.

If a BK attny is a "Mill", the listing of their cases can easily be 50-100 or more billable pages on PACER. You'll have on LONG web page listing the names of all the people and companies an attny has represented. Even tho it's just one web page, it's a lot of billable pages on PACER.

You can try Switchboard. Here's a link to all BK attny listings advertised there in Colorado:

Here's another website I found to locate BK attnys in Colorado:

There's also several Members here who are in outer areas in Colorado. Maybe some will chime in with some help for you.

You might get to see some attnys in action at 341's if you can get in.

I know for our Court here, if your name wasn't on the list, the US Marshalls weren't letting you in. No Lookie Lou's here.

May be, if you're filing in a bigger Federal Court, you might get in. That would be one way to see a group of attnys in action all in one shot.

But I'd suggest calling the Court first and see how it's gonna be handled. If it's by name on the list only getting in the room, then don't bother.

If the Court will allow other people to sit in, then check you Court's Docket to see which attnys are gonna be there. Then watch as the cases get called up.
