    Weird Movies at Christmas time

You know how you always see great previews for movies, but then, when you have some time off, none of the movies are showing??? That's kinda what happened to us....so, we went to the movies Saturday and saw "Marie Antoinette"...great soundtrack, loved the visual candy of it all....

Yesterday, we rented "Inside Man and Oliver Twist"...fell asleep during the first one and had a hard time understanding the dialect in Twist....ok...next...

God I hope "Blood Diamond" is good.....

AMIS, we have had an odd tradition for about 8-10 years. On Christmas Eve, after the dancing, dinner, prayers, etc... we watch "Mystery Science Theatre 3000 The Movie". The videotape, which is rare is only watched at Christmas Eve. The DVD on Amazon or ebay sells for about $175.00 used and $200.00 - 250.00 Mint in Box, unopened. It is an out of print flick, highly sought after by fans. We just like Crow, Servo and Gypsy, I guess that makes us fans, we have alot of MST3K stuff.

AMIS, here is a link to the DVD on Amazon. To much for my blood, and my Sony DVD/VCR Recorder won't copy the tape because of the Copy Protection. I may try and sling it over to my regular OOOOOOLD vcr and then copy it to DVD. thank God for low tech stuff!

It won't be on any channel, you won't find it in any video store at all, those have all been swiped. I got the Tape, used, on Ebay for about 40 or 50 bucks, we guard it like gold.

I found two copies of the Tape on Ebay under "mst3k The Movie"

Don't confuse the episodes with The Movie, they are different.

        here is the IMDB review

The old episodes are hard to find and bootlegs seem to be freely sold on the Internet. According to Joel Hodgson and Mike Nelson their is an issue with expiring copyrights from the hundreds of movies they dissed so wonderfully over the years. Some episode tapes seem to be coming available a little at a time.

The most famous of the episodes I guess would be "Manos, The Hands of Fate".

Best scene of the Movie to me is Crow T. Robot (with space dimentia) pounding the Hull of The Satellite of Love with a pickaxe and wearing a WW1 British Infantry helmet while singing "it's a long way to Tipperary" and declaring that "we must confound Gerry at every turn". And then his immortal words as the vaccuum of space begins its work "wow, breach hull, all die, even had it underlined".

AMIS, you mentioned Oliver. I assume the 1968 version with Ron Moody and Oliver Reed. I went to see it at the Belle Meade Theatre in Nashville as a boy. My mother had just died months before and the movie was really special to me ans always has been, I really identified with Mark Lester (Oliver). We also had the soundtrack. Love that film, great memmory.

I've seen that one years ago....this was Roman Polanski's version that recently came out....the boy who played Oliver was just adorable...
