    Help! What's the first step

I'm 26 working two jobs. Last year's tax report I made ~$40K. I owe about $40K in CC debt. I have and apartment and truck payment. What is the first step I need to take. I've been enrolled in Consumer Credit Counseling for about a year now and what a joke. I think my balance it actually higher then it was before. I cannot make the minimum payments on the CC's if I pay myself. Do I make too much money to file? I just want a clean slate to start over on. Should I cancel my CCC and just see a lawyer now? They way I see it if I don't do anything now I'm just gonna be in the same boat 10yrs from now. Can you keep some of your accounts open and not file them? Like my truck payment? Thanks for the help :o

Your DTI (Debt to Income) ratio is ideal for filing a Chp7 BK. Stop using your credit cards ASAP, and seek the advice of a experienced BK attorney.

    Good Luck!

I haven't used my credit cards since going with consumer credit consulting, which they never made a payment for three months and all my credit cards accounts were frozen. That had to be the worst decision ever, my credit score was high 700's. I never missed a payment or late, just my income to debt ratio was horrible. I need to find a good lawyer here in houston.
