    Filing taxes

I'm getting ready to file my taxes. Had a pretty straightforward Ch7 and was discharged last November. The trustess sent us a simple document stating we were discharged with no request for our tax refund.

Will there be any surprises when I file? Only own our house and made under the poverty income guidelines. We usually get a large sum from EIC, etc. Will I have to surrender it and if so when will I know?

    Thanks,

Chances are, if your Trustee didn't mention anything, you may be safe with your income tax refund.

But as a CYA, file the old fashioned way. Mail it in. Give your attny a copy of your filed taxes. And have the IRS send you a check. Don't do Direct Deposit.

Then if the Trustee ups and wants your taxes, you've already submitted them to your attny. If the Trustee decides to take a portion of your refund, you won't have spent it and have to come up with the cash.

I'd say, if the Trustee is gonna come after your refund, you'll probably be getting a letter sometime here soon.
