Yesterday we recieved a lovely notice from the IRS that we owe them $841 for a debt of my husband's that was cancelled in 2005 (including interest penalties for not reporting it on our taxes)
The thing is, he entered into no such agreement with this company, we've never heard of them, and have never recieved anything from them offering to cancel it or stating the debt was cancelled. How can we have reported something we didn't even know existed?
What do we do now?
