My husband has an education loan at our local bank, with his father as co-signer. Our bank at which the loan is at has denied us the usage of online banking/debit cards, etc. They said since we are filing they cannot allow us those privliges. They want us to sign a reaffirmation agreement on the loan which is fine,( we planned on continuing to pay it) but they need the debtor/co-debtor to sign...would this be my FIL? Have you heard of anything like this before? I thought with BK no one needed to know (Friends/Family, etc) is there a way around this? TIA

No one needs to know when its not their debt. With you father in law as a cosigner, its his debt too, and almost impossible to him not to find out. Maybe you should have just left it off your schedule if you planned on reaffirming. Looks like you may be stuck now.Originally posted by brittMy husband has an education loan at our local bank, with his father as co-signer.
