    Unauthorized INQ??

Uh-OH. Rec'd an alert from EQ last night, found there was a brand new HARD inq from Nationwide Recovery Services. Since I'm not in the habit of begging CA's to run unauthorized inq's, I'm a bit frustrated over this. Two Questions:

    Anyone know of this firm?
What's the usual approach to having this hard inq removed?

    Mucho Thanko, friends!

Here's two links that will help you sort out what this company does and how they operate - http://www.nationwiderecovery.net/ and http://www.nrs.us/consumer_debt_recovery.php

Any idea why they ran an unauthorized hard inquiry on EQ?

      No idea.

I do have a collections bill that may have been sold, but I'm trying to figure out what the inq was about and get it removed. thanks for the info link. From what I found below, they're trying to see if I have a credit card I could use to pay it.

From their site: Asset and Liability Searches

We provide asset searches to uncover hidden assets of individuals and companies which may verify their ability to satisfy outstanding debt. Knowledge of these assets can provide leverage in settlement negotiations.

Could be a Zombie Debt Buyer who purchased one, or more, of your BK'd debts. The Credit Pull could have been one of the first items on their "to do" check list. Since they saw you filed BK, you may never even hear from them.

Less than scrupulous Zombie Debt Buyers will hound BK Filers in spite of the permanent injunction on debts included in BK. Best case scenario for those companies is to get some money, more than they paid for the debt, and not be reported to regulatory agencies.

Good news is there are ways to remove inquiries from EQ. One way is random by using a credit monitoring service, soft pulls gradually add up and slowly bump off hard inquiries, and theres also a way to dispute them that is described in detail in the forum section of myfico.com.

Now as for the company that did the inquiry, this means they still have an active collection account listed for you. You will have to contact them and inform them of the bk, that the debt was discharged, is uncollectable, etc.
