Personal Financial Management Certificate Form 23

Just curious about the financial management certificate. I received a notice from the court clerk that I needed to complete it prior to discharge but had to be within 45 days after 341 meeting.

My brother who just recently went through this said the online course was timed? For those that have been there and done that what's it like?

Thanks as always for the wisdom, and advice!

    Just Finished This Test

We just did ours! Maybe I can help. First you go to a page where you have no clue what the answers are. You fill it out and naturally you are getting alot wrong! Then you start the class. Your read a long page, then answer like 5-6 questions. Then you advance thru 8 stages that way. (The timed part is the 8 stages, and it isnt timed for speed, you have to spend atleast 120 minutes on it before you can test) Then you get to take the test! It lets you go back thru your reading to find the answers too) It is really informative and we really learned alot. It isnt hard! And like i said, you get to go back and check any answers to questions you just dont remember. Hope this helps. Just dont worry when you get the first set like all wrong! Good luck. Oh you can also log in and out if you have to do something and cannot sit there for 120 minutes.

We did our Post BK Debtor Education Class with CCCS of Atlanta online, via their website. Their course was timed. If we took less than 2 hours to do the class and take the different Sections tests, we risked not getting our Cert.

Depending on the DOJ Approved Agency you use, your Post BK Class may indeed be timed.

        Yuck

Sinking Fast....I to will be doing this thru CCCS Atlanta online. Are they as helpful as when you are getting your credit counseling cert? (Online IM's?) and if I understand you correctly should I take more than the two hour time?

GoingUnder - I greatly appreciate the advice. I don't know if I can do 120 minutes in front of the computer as it's what I do for a living. So hopefully can leave and come back? If not its going to mean a long Sunday, as other half loves to blog.

It was really easy to get in the 2 hours.

CCCS has the version you can read, but they also offer it "on tape" so to speak. You can click a link and hear each section, word for word, as it's written on the page. As you flip from Section to Section, you can listen to the wave files to be sure you're getting in your time. Each section, and ours was 8 sections, the Reader took about 12-14 minutes to read each one. Then there was a test on that section. At the end, there's a Final Exam over all the material covered in the Course.

Like GoingUnder mentioned, CCCS does a pre test so you'll know what things to look for. On the pre test, some of the answers are just common sense. Things you'll already know. Some of the things will be stuff you actually learn.

              Thanks Sinkingfast,
My brother led me to believe that it was timed for speed....but he was so frustrated by it that he had his ex wife take it for him.
I will take my time, and use your approach.

              I appreciate the advice!

Hi Brandnew.... Let me know how it goes for you. I will probably schedule mine a couple of weeks after the 341, and would appreciate your input.

The whole thing could have been done in 20 minutes so I would do a section and go take a shower, do another section and mow some of the lawn. I kept getting my stuff done around the house in between sections so I could stretch it out to over the 120 minutes. The cert. was emailed to me the next morning. I took CCCS Atlanta.

I did mine through MMI and it wasn't timed. I finished it in about 30 minutes or so.
