If a husband and wife file ch 13 joint, would you be able to double the exemption values?? Specifically, I am curious if we could both have a vehicle...nothing fancy....maybe a $1200 car?? Thanks in advance. sara

Filing Ch 13 joint, double exemptions??momofmany 05-29-2007, 09:42 AM If a husband and wife file ch 13 joint, would you be able to double the exemption values?? Some States specifically note certain Exemptions cannot be doubled. Texas, for example, has a flat $$$ amount Personal Property Exemption. Debtor/Filers are allowed 1 vehicle/licensed driver in the family. So if you have 3 vehicles and only 1 licensed driver in the family, only 1 vehicle will be Exempt. Really depends on your State and the wording of the Statute. | |
