Hi all..

I wanted to share some news with you.. A very wise man told me that there IS life after BK and I would see it IF i chose to look in the right places.

I surrendered my car in my BK that was discharged last June and do not regret it at all. I was approved in Oct 06 for a Cap1 Auto Loan for 10.95%. Pretty good huh?

It gets better!! I was searching online and reading aother forums and located Christian Community Credit Union (www.mycccu.com) and after reading all of the rave reviews from others on them, I decided to apply. I was approved for a $2500 Platinum Card and also got my car refied for (GET THIS) 6.75%..

I have not done a lot to repair anything since rec my discharge.

Do fall prey to these loan sharks who want to give you 17%+ interest rates. That is killer and so hard to ever get out from under.. Do your research, I did and it was worth it..

Hello GaCreditGuy, great to hear from you.

Glad to hear things are going well for you and that now you can see that shining light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes, there is life after bankruptcy, and it is SWEET...............

So far I've have had a great experience with christian community credit union. I applied for the visa and was approved and did a balance transfer of my hooters card, reducing my interest rate from 26% to 10%, yeehaw!

I'm also in the process of trying to refinance my cap one auto loan through them. They are very easy to deal with and very helpful. I highly recommend them and wish to say thanks for putting there information on here, this site is always worth a look and the information I've got off of here has helped reestablish my credit very fast!!

I called and talked to the loan dept. She said they give a weighted total to your credit score, debt to income ratio, and your recent credit history. Said its not just a computer deicison, but a real person decision. I'm waiting another week because we just paid off a few accounts that had balances on them and I want to make sure they reflect zero balances before the application goes through. So I guess I'll apply for the credit card and shoot for the low interest car loan and try to refi my cap one car loan thats at 10something? If I can get the credit car with a high limit I'd love to just close all the others and simplify my life a bit. I know it might lower my score a bit but then I wouldn't need to be applying for ANY credit any time soon, so it wouldn't really matter. I could just sit tight for a few years and not worry about it. I would be a happy camper if I could make out like Gcamperguy...only maybe with a little higher limit on the card.....hopefully, we'll see. I'll be curious to see how you make out, catchme, let us know asap!!

I'm still waiting, the suspense is killing me. The 6.75% refi would make a huge difference for me. It sounds too good to be true. We'll see. They also have a balance transfer special. If you apply now and transfer now its 3.9% for 18 months. If you apply now and transfer after 60 days its 2.9% for the life of the balance. Hmmmmmmm...could it be???? I could transfer my small personal loan and my treadmill. Hopefully they get back to me soon. I have had perfect credit since before my BK. No lates...NOTHING!!! I read some weird stuff on creditboards about their approval process, but I'll remain hopeful.

Were you able to shorten the term of your loan or at least refi with the number of months remaining on your Cap One loan.

God to hear from you again. Keep us posted.

Got a call back today. Seems they usually don't approve anything...loans, credit card, anything...if you are in chex systems. Well, I have one small thing from my before my-bk that I paid off after my bk (setteld for less than 50 or so) for $178, even though it shows as paid. It was actually a couple of debits that came through on a closed acct after I moved and didn't get the notices. Anyway this is from 2005. She said the BK wasn't a problem. They are going to give me a call back in a few days. Hopefully I'll at least be able to refi that vehicle. Weird that such an insignificant seeming thing would come back to bite me. Oh, well maybe it will all work out and I'll keep you posted. They were really really nice and seemed to want to work with me. She wasn't complimentary on my credit history since my BK, so that made me feel very good!! I had tried to dispute off chex systems but they wouldn't remove it cause the orig amount was over 100.00. ugggghhhhh

Well I must admit I read all the post concerning cccu and decided to apply this weekend for a checking and savings. I was disapproved because at the time chexsystem was still showing accounts I had that was part of my bk. Well, on Monday I got letter from Chexsystems saying everything was removed, I didn't believe it but I called anyway and was told nothing was listed and that everything was removed. I had faxed them my bk petition a few weeks before my discharge and they sent out notices to each bank. Those accounts were well over $100 but they were removed and I now have a new checking account with Navy FCU. Funny thing is I emailed CCCU letting them know, and I also reminded them that they are supposely a Christian CU so whatever happened to "FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS"!!! Needless to say I didn't get a response from my email, and was wondering could it have been because I put a PS I forgive you at the end. LOL :-) Anyway, I don't need them and I'm excited to have NFCU since I know they have some of the best rates around and I can rebuild my credit through them. Just goes to show how no matter how Christian they are Business is still BUSINESS!!! Best of luck to you all hopefully you'll get to refi

Does anyone know which credit reporting company they use? I am in the midst of clearing all three reports of stuff that should have been dealt with years ago right up until now and I am not finished with at least one of the companies.

Experian, Equifax, and Chexsystems.....ughhhhh....I"m still waiting on response. I guess no news is good news. She did tell me it could be at least a week. I guess these is really no rush. But I am rather an inpatient person. They seem to be more interested in chex systems than anything else.

I still hadn't heard anything and thought it was bad news, but then I got an email today from from their loan officer saying she is working on my application and should have something for me today. So I'm still truckin along with Christian Community Credit Union. She pulled my Chex Sytems again today now that I'm all clear and sent me over some more paper work to fill out for both the auto loan and credit card app. requested my check stub and my husband's driver liscense and social security card. I know this might not sound like this most exciting story to follow, but I guess its the most exciting thing going on in my life.....lol. I'll keep you guys updated.

Well, I got the other part to my loan packet today and they requested the payoff from Capital One. Looking Good!! I am hoping for the 6.25%!!!!! I hope to find out tomorrow!!! Keep your fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm faxing all of our stuff over tomorrow. This is so huge for me. Can make a really big difference in our monthly budget. And just make me feel so much better about not paying that 11.95 or whatever I'm paying cap one. I was thankfule for then, but I'm ready to move on! I'll update you soon. Then once I get it squared away I hope you guys will give it a try. They are really really nice and as long as you don't have chexsystems it seems they will really work with you!!

NFCU IS AWESOME ! I ended up getting three $10,000 credit limits from them and 2 consolidation loans. Too bad I had to file BK. Overtime you will see the benefits ! Congradulations !

I just traded in my 06 Sonata and got an 07 V6 Limited Sonata, I'm going to attempt to refi through this Christian Community deal but I have to wait to see what bank the dealer has me financed with. Right now I'm at 12 or 13%, I guess thats not bad considering I've been discharged since January 07. The dealer gave me a trade of a little over 10,000 - not bad since I wrecked the 06 a month after I bought it and accumulated 40,000 miles in a little over a year!

Best of Luck to you all, Catchmeifyoucan

I just applied for a checking account with cccu and got declined, there is something reported in the chex system. I ordered a free report. I bet it has to do with filing BK on my Chevy Chase overdraft! I wonder if I show them my discharge will they take it off? Anyone with that experience? Well that totally sucks, but I guess in time I'll be able to refi with a lender somewhere. Man, the dealer is financing my car for $25,000, you'd think thats pretty big of a deal after coming out of BK!

Well, found out today I am APPROVED!!! 6.75% if I pay them by coupon or 6.50% if I open a checking account and do autodraft. I AM SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!You are not required to open a checking account. There is a $5.00 membership fee and you do not have to become a member before you applying for a loan. I have not yet paid them anything or opened any account. I will however be required to opening a savings account when I do the loan and I plan to just put $100 in it to sit.

Catchme, don't worry!! You will be fine. The same thing happened to me. Once you get your report from CHEX, which will be in the next 3 or 4 day just fax them a copy of your BK discharge sheet See my CHEXSYSTEMS GONE FAST POST http://www.bkforum.com/showthread.php?t=16970 Then call CCCU. They will reactivate your app.

Good luck. All the work is worth it. This process took me approx. 1 month. But I am going to shorten my repayment time on my loan by 4 months (I have 64 months left to pay and I am going to 60 months) and lower my payment by $50 an overall savings of approx. $4700!

Congrats, Cindylynnsmith!!!! I must admit hearing all the positive news about cccu I reapplied for a line of credit but I don't know. My scores have probably dropped as I've been applying left and right for credit. My Equifax FICO dropped from 541 to 500 in a matter of days, but I say what the heck, so far NFCU won't give me any credit. I've managed to open a checking and savings at WaMu and PenAir FCU. I must admit I'm a little disappointment that Navy FCU is so far from me, I'd like a CU closer to where I live so I'm going with Pen Air and keeping the WaMu for my other account. I'm considering using Lexington in about 60 days to see if they can help get me scores up. Right now I just feel like I'm not getting anywhere, but I have to remember I only discharged and closed on 8/14 and 8/15. I guess the hardest thing is waiting it out.
Hang in there Catchmeifyoucan, if I can have a clean chexsystems anyone can. I had several accounts closed with balances way over $100 some closer to $500 and they were all deleted. BTW I know you said you're a gambler I have a friend who just wrote lots of checks at a casino in OK that did not clear, total of about $1600 to 3 different casino's what can happen to her, she's scared to death!!!! The account is still open but everything was returned NSF. Will she just have to make out a payment arrangement with the casinos? Thanks in advance and keep me posted on the cccu. I've never heard from them but I'm hoping to get a response this time.

Credit so far:
New Car with NFCU: 5.75% interest $19755
Cap 1 cc - $500
HBSC cc - $300
First Premier cc - (awaiting terms and amount after reading thread might not keep it as it sounds scary)

Recent disapprovals:
NFCU visa or loc
Hooters
WaMu cc
and a list of store cards that I won't even mention.

I did get an email back from Pulaski Bank requesting copies of my pay stubs so I'm hoping for a yes.

Well, I'm all wrapped up with my loan and Cap One is paid off!! Now my first payment isn't due til Nov. 1st and I get to skip a car payment!!! What to do with a extra money!!!!! Why, pay other bills, of course!!! Just FYI, they didn't even require me to open a savings account as I thought they would. I just had to pay the 5.00 fee to join the credit union.

I really thought it was too good to be true until I got the paper work in the mail today. The loan manager comes back from vacation this week and she is going to let me know the decision on the credit card.

This would be awesome, it would look like I paid off 2 loans ! I had inquired about the CHEX system and they said the chex system called and found nothing out of the ordinary so she doesn't know why it was an issue, surely this credit union must know one has filed bankruptcy??? Anywho, we'll see what happens next. When I told the rep I was paying $550mo on the car loan she's like "oh my," I told her I haven't even paid my 1st payment yet which was due Nov 1st. The CCCU had called me today and was wondering if I still wanted the checking account, and I mentioned the CHEX system blocked me. She said they contacted them and there was nothing wrong??? So I said yeah! I have yet to see the deduction of $100 off my present checking to go into my brand new checking account, probably it will hit tonight (one ACH withdrawal/payment).

About your friends "bad checks," UH-OH. I've never written bad checks, or had any markers from a casino. I soppose they will go after her with whatever resources they have (collections?). What effect did it have on her bank accounts, surely the accounts have been hit with NSF charges? I wish her all the best and a whole lot of luck!!! Don't tell her to be too scared, but writing bad checks is against the law - not to get her more scared, but have her be more cautious.

Hi cindylynnsmith and catchmeifyoucan,

I did get a call from cccu and was told it was just too early after my bk in order for me to get a cc or cl I was told I should try back in about 6 months or longer. I thought it was very nice for them to call me and explain that other than it being too soon I shouldn't have a problem once more time have elapsed. Congrats to you both!!!! I know how exciting it is to get a lower interest rate than with Cap1. I'm happy for you both and continue to learn from this forum even though my bk is discharged and closed. It's only been a little over a month so I'm still working hard at keeping my cr clear and my first car payment won't be until Oct 23 so I think once I start those payments on time and a little extra each time I'll see a difference in my scores. As for my friend with the checks in OK, she called the casino's a made arrangements to pay the checks. All is well since she's dealing with their collection dept. She now stays far away from the casinos....at least for now. Thanks for all the information and good luck catchmeifyoucan on your refi as well!!

That's good to hear Sara....6 months will FLY BY!!!! I still haven't heard back on the credit line, but I am being patient. Patience paid off with the car loan. I would love to have one large credit line and close the rest and be done. If I get the credit card then I'd love to move my checking and savings here and call it a day! Did you see where you can even make online deposits, get immediate credit for the deposits then mail in the checks. How cool is that? I'd really love to get all my stuff in one place. I know people say its not good to get all your eggs in one basket but I'm so tired of chasing all my eggs around....lol...I feel like I'm chasing chickens...... I hope we hear back from catchme soon. do you know of any requirement on the car loan? do you have to buy it directly from the dealership? stuff like that.

Should I apply for their Credit card as well. Like other have say, I wouldn't mind putting all my balance on one card so it makes life easier. How long does it take for them to approve credit card??

well seeing that they are taking this long, I went ahead and apply for Capital One Auto again and got a rate of 8.5 percent. I was wondering if I use capital one auto finance and then when Christian Community approve my loan, I can do a refin with them and have it reduce down to 6.75 at that time (which is in a month hopefully?) What do you guys think? Going from 6.75 to 8.5 which is 25 dollar extra a month but if you times that by 72 its 1800 extra. Well what do you guys think....thanks.

CindyLou
10-08-2007, 11:24 AM
If you are looking for 72 then go with Cap One. Christian Community, to my knowledge does not do 72 months....look on their site and see, but i don't think they do. But yes they will refi at any time. They consider a refi the same as a new car. 8.5 is pretty good!! Congrats!

FWIW, I just purchased a new truck with a Cap One loan with a rate of 9.45%. I was very happy to get that rate as is!!! However, I'm in process of trying to refinance it with CCCU and here is the difference. If I get 6.75% I will pay $39 more per month but I will save $4,400 over the length of the loan AND pay it off 1 year early. It's worth it to me for sure.

crazydebt
10-08-2007, 12:14 PM
i guess thats what I will do then cause capital one is fast with sending out stuff and being approved and what not. I just don't want to wait a month for CCCU application to go through but will do that after i get the car so that way I can refin with them and have time to do so. Thanks everyone :)

I did apply for their 72 month term though in CCCU. They do have that option.

i went with capital one. I got an email from CCCU and they requested that I send them my last 2 paycheck. I will wait 6 months before going back to CCCU and reappling for a refianance. I just picked up a car over the weekend so its too soon to refin? I am getting 8.75 which isn't too bad.

I know some of you have had a good experience with CCCU, but I have to tell you that my experience with them was horrible. It was one of my most degrading conversations I ever had. The lady taking my information treated me like crap for filing BK, told me that I would have a hard time getting a mortgage, people in my income bracket don't file BK, etc.

So you all know, my mid point score is 670, I have 3 credit cards with low balances, just mortgaged a home at $275K,and been discharged 25 months.

i never did get a response on the credit card. I did get a response from a pre-approved WAMU today....3500 limit! so I guess I'll give up on the CCCU credit card. It's weird I didn't even get a decline. Maybe they are waiting on my first car payment due Nov. 1....I pay it tomorrow...we'll see.

BK'r, that's weird on the Mortgage thing. I'm kinda scared now cuz we were thinking of trying them on a house come feb. If you don't mind me asking, what is the range of your income? We are looking at around 285,000 house with 130,000 income. Was yours anywhere in that range? And WHO in the world told you that? I want to be sure and talk to someone else!!! Thanks for the info.
Cindy

Hi cindylynnsmith, my income is $115K. I went through C21 mortgage company. I ended up putting 5% down on a 80-15-5 mortgage on a $289K home, got a rate of 6-something% on the first and 8-something on the second, and didn't have to pay PMI. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

well i just got a phone call from them. I initially wanted 10k credit line (i know it is a lot) but i wanted to consolidate all my CC to one. Anyways, they counter offer and gave me 2500 instead. I decline as I didn't want another CC. Just thought i give you an update. I might change my mind but they will keep it for 3 months then it gets toss. I just odn't feel safe with them until I know its safe and secure :)
