My husband and I have had our ups and downs, 3 years ago we separated for 6 months, I was unemployed, I lived with my father and kids on my unemployment and the money my husband sent me. I made ends meet, paid the minimum on my credit cards, late a few times got hit with $39 late fees, then they sold my accounts to other companies that raised the interest rate from 12% to 29.9%. We got back together 2 years ago and moved back to Santa Cruz, finding a job wasn't so easy for as they had just laid off hundreds of teachers from UCSC and county workers who were all applying for the same position as me. I was unemployed for another year or so, and our debts still received minimum payment. Now I have been working for a year, paying bills on time, but my husband and I are separating again, and this time we are intrerested in filing chapter 7 and want to know if we qualify. He already has a place that he will be renting and will be giving me money for child support. We have not made this official with the courts. We also just got hit with $4500 we owe to IRS on top of our $25,000 we owe in CC debt. Any advice is helpfull.
