    Statutory of limitations on debts

Is there a statute of limitations on which a creditor can attempt collection? I heard once upon a time 7 years. How does this apply to a student loan that you didn't even know was a student loan? I was a part time student at a college and applied for a loan to get an Apple computer. I didn't realize it was a student loan. I have all the equipment and original boxes, I offered to give it back to them, but they haven't responded. I have not paid on it for over 7 years. I included it in a previous BK but was then informed it was an education loan, I had no idea.

As far as I know, for any true student loans (i.e. government or non-profit back student loans), there is no statute of limitations.

Also, generally speaking, statute of limitations is only a defense to a law suit to collect, that doesn't mean they can't try to collect the debt in a non-judicial manner.
