    Paid Foreclosure?

I inherited a timeshare when my father passed away in 1996 - I had the name changed - and promptly forgot about it in the bustle of taking care of the 'more important' issues.

I don't recall getting any correspondance - however this year we were on vacation at a friend of our's timeshare - and it reminded me of this timeshare.

I emailed to find out what the status was of the old timeshare and received this message:

    Dear Mr. x:

Thank you for your email. At this time, the account has been changed to a state of foreclosure, as we never received payment. This happened back in 2002.

We do apologize, but it is no longer available for use.

Now, I have all the oroginal paperwork that notes that the timeshare has been paid in full in 1995 - for a 30 year term. How can they foreclose on it. There is a maintance fee that has not been paid, but that's only $200 or so a year and the value of the timeshare was listed at $8900.

Is there anything we can do about this? How can they foreclose a paid property?

    Thanks in advance!

    Brian
