As long as you don't list your health insurance company as a creditor in your bankruptcy and try to discharge any past-due payments, then you should be fine.Originally posted by twuoo View PostWhen people file bk, do you know if the health insurance company can deny you services/coverage if you still pay the monthly premium fees?I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

I'm current on my health insurance payments. However, I'm worried because I had to visit urgent care recently. I'm worried that my self-pay health insurance won't cover much and it's going to be a whopping bill.
But then that would be between me and the hospital right?
How will this look in terms of bk because I've stopped using my cc since May and I'd like to file in Sept/Oct.
Thanks again!

yes that would be between you and the hospital. and if you have not filed yet you would be able to include the hospital bill in your debts. I have not heard of anyone on this forum or any other talk about losing their health insurance due to filing bk as long as they were current on their premiums. I was preparing for higher auto insurance rates after I filed, but the company I am with actually cut them 1/2 two years into my chapter 13
