Hey guys glad i found this site. This morning i was served with papers for a pre trial mediation, I was already planning to file for BK when i found out i can file myself w/o paying a lawyer (no cash) now my question is can i still file since i got this summons ? or can i file and bring the paper work with me to the hearing ? I have a few more questions but i will wait for a reply on this one before i go into any more. Thanks a lot for the help

You can file BK on your own. Pro Se. That's true. But you really need to do your homework first to get it done right. Even filing with an attny, it can take a couple of months to get all your documents gathered, your property valuations done, and such.
You can file BK at any time. Before the Hearing, after the Hearing, before the Trial, after the Trial when you've had a Judgement rendered against you. Filing at any point will stop that process dead in its tracks.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
