    Get checks or cash?

Family wants to help me out at times I'm short for bills. Is it better for them to write me a check so I deposit it into my bank acct and have a paper trail of where money came from or does it not matter and my family can hand me cash as well?

If check writing, are there amounts which start to draw attention?

    Thanks

Since you're pre filing,............ I'd strongly suggest you have family pay different bills themselves, direct. Have them write a check to the electric company, phone company, etc, and pay the bills direct out of their own accts.

Don't show the money flowing into or out of your bank acct. If you get cash, buy groceries or money orders for bills with it.

Remember, the Trustee is gonna see 2-3 months worth of bank statements. He/She might question all the little extra deposits of $100 here and there. If you don't deposit the money, you don't open that can of worms to begin with.

There is noting wrong with somone giving you money. What are you going to do if the trustee wants to see how you paid your electric bill?
I believe you are creating a problem when one does not exist.

Don't think that occasional (once or twice a month) $25 to $50 deposits into a checking account will raise a red flag with trustees.
