Since I stopped making payments in January for cc one of them finally put in a collection agency. They've started calling my job and leaving embarrasing meesages to anyone who answers the phone. Is there any way to stop this?
Also I have an appointment with a bk lawyer June 1st, since I have not given him any money and doesn't know my full situation, is it wise to start telling the companies that I'm planning to file bankruptcy?
Thanks for your time
You can tell them that you are considering BK, but it won't do much good.
All you can do about the calls at work is if you answer the call, find out...
1. Name of person on other end (it will probably be a fake name, but get it none the less)
2. What collection agency they represent
3. What creditor the collection agency is collecting for
4. Then inform them that your employer has a policy against receiving calls of this nature.
5. Hang up on them.
6. Note the time and date of the call.

You can also write a "cease and desist" letter which they have to abide by. If they break that law, then they can be held liable in court for fees, and other things.

Please note that all letters within the likes of "C&D" letters, should be mailed certified mail. Also, type in bold type font, "Delivered Certified Mail" as a heading in your letter.
Good Luck!
