    Got a car!!!!

    Hi everybody,

Just wanted to let everyone know I've decided not to buy a new car but instead I bought a hootie to get back and forth to work and for around town. I think it will be better to wait to buy something new at a later day. Thanks for all the great info, about eloans and lendingtree. I'm sure they would work but I think rebuilding my credit and score as well as saving will work out better in the end. Again, thanks for all the positive threads when things seem to be getting the best of me. Best of luck to all of you on your filing and DISCHARGE!!!!!

Sara, you've made a hard but good decision. It's tempting to rush out and get back into big debt immediately after discharge. We've been doing without for a long time and suddenly having some cash to spend can be heady. But you didn't let the short-term gratification of getting a brand new car drop you right back into the hole again. You are planning long-term for your best future - good for you! You've learned your bankruptcy lessons well!

Congrats on the new (to you) car! Way to go!

      Thanks IRPRN,

You're sooo right I am planning for the long-term and although the instant gratification of a new car would have been nice, I'd much rather have more money in my savings account. I'm excited that I will finally have enough to put back those emergency funds of 3 months living expenses, not to mention investing for retirement. Yes, a hard decision but when the opportunity presented itself I thought about the past few months of HELL and it quickly slapped me back to REALITY!!! Thanks for all your support here on the BK forum, I've learned alot but most importantly I plan to put into action what I KNOW NOW!!!!

You're right it's NEW TOO ME and that's all that really matters!

Sara a big congratulations to you!

I have to say you make a fellow bker proud. When I read your post about buying a used car (and it's paid for) instead of rushing out and financiing a new vehicle...I almost wanted to shout..."Finally someone gets it!" You have made a tough decision, but you will come out on top after this. You are well on your way to really making a difference in your financial life. Realizing that your EF and retirement are far more important than a shiny new vehicle, shows that you have walked away from bk knowing what's important and what's not.

You are a great example to the people on this board, showing that's it's okay to put yourself before possessions especially after bankruptcy!!!!

Thanks BKTango you are so right!!! I promised myself that after going through BK I would be wiser with my financial decisions and I think I"ve made the first step by not going directly back into debt. It feels good and I'm excited about what my savings can look like by this time next year. Again thanks for your words of encouragment and continued support. This BKforum has made a world of difference and I'm so glad I googled and found it. Take care and I'll continue to post and help others on this forum!
