    Vehicle question

I am looking into a ch7 filing here in Florida. I will file without my wife as 99% of our 60k in unsecured credit is mine. As far as vehicles, she has a 2007 Honda Accord (leased in my name only). I have a 1992 ford ranger with 150k miles but I also have a 2006 Honda Goldwing that is paid in full. Is there any way to keep the bike? I did not use any of the credit cards to pay for the bike. My wife paid it off when she sold a piece of land this past February.

It will depend on your state's exemptions. According to Nolo, Florida has a $1000 vehicle exemption. That doesn't seem like enough to cover all of your vehicles. Are you going to file with an attorney? They would probably know if there are other ways to use the exemptions in order to cover that value.

Keeping that bike is going to be hard to do unless you file a Chapter 13......

The Trustee is going to look at the "paid for bike" as cash in hand for his creditors......

Also, the property you wife sold, was your name on it also?????
If so, you really need to contact an attorney about your options.

You need to consult with at least 3 attorneys and see what options are available for you.....

      Keep us posted.

Thanks for the replies. I figured there would be no way around losing the bike. How long would I have to wait to file if I sold the bike?
        Thanks again
