    Updated on my Chapter 7

I want to thank everyone for there advice. I spoke to my lawyer and she informed me that there the trustee can't take anything from my future husband b/c we don't have any joint accounts and b/c he had the funds before we got married. The only thing that the trustee may bring up is his income.

I just received the papers in the mail giving my court date as 09/25/07; Just 10 days after I get married and 3 days before my birthday.

I'm a bit nervous about the meeting. I had to claim the money I owe my mother and I know she is going to throw a huge fit. But I don't have anything for her to take.

Has anyone in Maryland had the Trustee [name removed by moderator]? What type of questions does the trustee ask?

Also, I would like to get a house within the next two years. How is this going to affect my credit score? Right now it is about 530 + or - a few points. I earn more than my husband to be, but he has the better score and eligible to get a VA loan. Given the way the mortgage industry is right now, how are people getting approved for mortgages?

If he puts me on his credit card as an authorized user will that help my credit score?

    Thank you,

    Jessica

[Jessica, I removed your trustee's name. It's not a good idea to post information about specific lawyers or trustees here in a public forum. If someone is in your Maryland bk district, then they can send you a private message so the discussion goes on behind the scenes. Thanks! -lrprn]

Here's a list of questions that trustees might ask you - http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/private_...QsCh13AppC.htm . Some trustees ask a lot of questions, some ask hardly any.

Our mortgage experts here say to get a loan with decent rates, you are looking at two years past filing at least. You can get loans before that, but the rates are not very favorable. You'll also hear you can refinance out of a bad loan - be very careful here. That may not necessarily be true, especially in a volatile housing market like we're in now.

Sorry to say that this practice was just halted by FairIssac, the group that "owns" the true FICO credit scores. They no longer count being an authorized user on a card to compile your scores
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
