    what it means- credit report?

After filing bankruptcy, I pulled up my credit report. I noticed that only a few of the things on there showed that it was included in my bankruptcy. A few others said something about an agreement to pay back (I'm assuming that was from the 13 I filed in 2004 - I've converted to a 7) One said charged off.

Here's my question. Since I filed a chapter 7 (that was converted from a 13 in 2004) should everything state that it is "included in bankruptcy"?? I realize that things I still have going (electric, insurance, phone bill, etc) will not state that since they are in good standing. I just see an awful lot of things saying it's on a repayment plan still. How long does it usually take to reflect bankruptcy? I was discharged and closed by 7-23-07.

All debt outstanding as of the date you filed should say "Included in Bankruptcy" and have a zero balance and zero past due.

You may have some late payments showing if and only if you were late at the time you filed. They are not allowed to show lates that occurred after the date you filed.

There should not be any "charge offs" on your credit report. You should dispute it immediately, saying that this debt was "included in bankruptcy" and should reflect a $0 balance. Anything else is incorrect.

Your score will suffer quite a bit until you clean these kind of items up. Also, you have a Public Record of the bk. You want to be sure this shows as "discharged", with the date of discharge/resolution being indicated as well.

I am in the process of doing all of this. Mostly good results so far.

Boscoe, what is the best way to contact these credit agencies to make these types of corretions? Email, phone, snail mail letter or......?

I haven't been discharged yet (will be SOON!) and I am already planning my "credit repair."

      TIA.

        Online, for sure.

        Try

        experian.com
        equifax.com
        transunion.com

Their websites are pretty self explanatory. You must purchase a credit report from each first. Or, go to annualcreditreport.com and get 1 of each for free. This is allowed once every 12 months. Just make sure you go through your report thoroughly and mark all the corrections necessary. Then go online, provide your report confirmation # and dispute everything at once. You will receive notice of what has been changed/updated/deleted within 30 days.
