    anyone try credit card counseling

Anyone do counseling first to try to get out of debt? I dont really understand the difference from that as to doing a chapter 13. The one attoney i went to suggested that or do 13 with 1800.00 a month payback which is 100%. I cant afford to do that, it seems like bankruptcy isnt for the people that make an average income, it doesnt make sense... Thanks

Many here have tried debt management - here's two recent threads discussing it:

Please search the forum before posting questions to see if your questions have already been answered before - thanks!

You need to do more reading then:
    Debt Management Plans - http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/debt.shtm
    Ch 13 - http://www.uscourts.gov/bankruptcyco...chapter13.html

The difference will be obvious after reading these.

Then interview at least 2-3 more bankruptcy lawyers in your area. Most give free initial consultations. And bankruptcy can help anyone with the right kinds and proportions of assets, income, and debt. Income isn't the deciding factor.
