I am Planning and Saving for a car once Lease is Up.

Hello folks. I am being a little premature here, but since I have been on this site, you guys have given me nothing but the very best advice. I followed all of your instructions to the letter and I have a bankruptcy file that I keep seperate from everything and I e-mail all the information from here that I collected along with any post I made, any responses I got and all the stuff I did on my own. Its all dated and wonderful to go back over every week.

So my premature question is this, I am walking the straight and narrow since July-07. I have actually managed to save some money. Its not much, but I call it my new car fund for 2009. Its funny, but because bk cases are public knowledge, I have received many a letter from car dealers asking me to buy cars and bk is no problem. Of course I do not believe any of this stuff because they obviously have no idea that my vehicle was leased and until I find out how to turn back in the leased vehicle in 2yrs, have another deal set up for the purchase of a 2009 Chevy Impala 4dr(I love Chevy's and never actually wanted a Cadillac..someone talked me into that one..big mistake)at the same time and I can research it in 2009 like I did this pro se chapter 7 case, I will still be looking. If you guys have advice premature about this, let me know. I am just saving the information for a rainy day.

I was wondering the same thing. It hasn't been easy for us either, but hopefully we will be able to get another car. There are so many commercials and mailings about buying a car after a bankruptcy that I find it hard to believe that you can not get one. You probably have not received any responses because people here may not have gone through what you have. I think all it will take is determination, planning and saving and you should be o.k in two years or so. Good luck.

You should take a look at Edmunds. There is a ton of information here that will arm you with the ammunition you'll need when you're ready to buy/lease. There is one article.......it's long.....about Confessions of A Car Salesman (under Tips and Advice). It's an amazing article and so is the entire site. I took a lot of what I learned from this site and used it to my advantage when I purchased my car (3 months after my discharge) and to offer others advice and information as well.
