Excuse the fairly lengthy post, I am so disheartened to see this happening to someone I care about and feel so powerless to do anything about.
My friend's now EX-husband filed Ch 7 2 hours before she and him got in front of the divorce judge to be divorced. He had molested her daughter (HIS step-daughter) and my friend immediately did all the right things and had him arrested, prosecuted, and SENT to jail for 15 years with 8 of jail time (+7 years probation). The SOB had proceeded to from jail, arrange to file the Ch 7, listing EVERYTHING she was to be awarded - the HOuse which was the only real Asset, HER camper (paid for by her), both cars (irregardless that hers was only in HER name even), and of course all the credit card debt.
Because the bankruptcy filing PRECEEDED (by 2 hours mind you) the Divorce proceedings, the Divorce was SET ASIDE!
