need info on student loan issue

Ive been bankrupt for about 3 years. I have a student loan that was in deferment at the time so i did not include it. I do know that student loans are harder to dismiss anyway. But Ive been recieving disability benefits for a number of years and can only work PT - really for hte rest of my life because of the disability. I was dismissed from the loan becuase of my disablity but because my doctor didnt return papers - my loan was "given" to another company.

After 8 months I just paid off the loan (which I borrowed) - which was $300. I have about $150 left in late fees. I know the company does not see it as I paid off the loan - they see it as I paid off the fees and a bit of the loan - which still needs repayment.
Unlike some credit cards though they are refusing my request to have the late fees dropped.

I just want to know if there is anyway around these late fees. I know the fees will just continue if i dont pay and they already sent a letter stating they will go into my bank account or tax return to get the money I owe. I do want to get this over with. But putting hte payment off with another deferment will only cause me more craziness later. Im sure i HAVE to pay it - but just wanted to double check if there was somethign else I could do before doing so.

Im also thinknig that if i waited to pay until it went to a collection agency that maybe then they wouldhave dropped the late fees. I may have actually screwed myself by paying now.
    thanks

I know things may be difficult with your disability, but all this hassle over $150. Is there anyway you can just pay it?

      Not really...

I borrowed the 300 - so i have to pay that back to someone else.

Im just really upset and confused on what to do - i know if i let it go it will add up to so much more money - but i cant afford to even pay the 150 - ive defered it so many times... thats why i want to know what will happen if it does go to a credit agency. If they will make me pay the fees back even though I see it has I Paid the 300 dollar loan off.

Unfortunately, yes, you probably will have to pay the fees.

Whenever a Creditor moves to outside Collections, they generally have costs. The costs are incurred on your behalf. There's probably a statement in your loan papers saying you are responsible to pay any costs incurred to collect on the debt.
