    Credit Repair post BK 7

    filed: 1/04
    discharge: 1/04
What if TU has asked 2x after my dispute for copies of BK7 paperwork proving items were included in discharge? It seemed like the best course of action. Any ideas on how to improve my credit to get a mortgage in a couple years?

Start improving your credit by getting secured loans from a bank/credit union. Also see if you can get secured credit card (make sure they report your payment history to all three credit beaures). Also, dependent upon your current credit score, you may be qualified to get a subprime mortgage now. Mortgage lenders typically wont touch you until two years have passed from your BK discharge, and if you have Re-established some sort of good repayment history.

I didnt understand the first part of your question.

    Good Luck!

      Some Headway

I have opened 3 unsecured accounts already since my BK7. A car loan, A CC from Household Bank ($500 limit) and a Target Guest Card ($200). The first part of my question was about credit repair. When I disputed some remaining "OPEN balances" that were discharged in the BK7, Transunion (TU) came back and asked for the BK7papers. I was asking if it was a good idea to furnish them with that information.

As far as a mortgage goes with the bankruptcy, I was approved this month for a subprime lender. The terms were: $210,000 about $1500/month 30 year loan. She wanted $8500 in closing costs however and my wife and I didn't have that much in cash. I am going to try and clean up my reports a little more and them try again for better terms in Novemebr or December. Any advice til then? What do you think the minimum in closing costs we could get would be? My current FICO's are:

      EX(595)
      EQ(582)
      TU(574)

      BK7 $0 asset

Good things come to those who wait (or so they say . . . )
