Just got home and had letter in mail from irs stating they will begin garnishing my wages .the letter is dated 10/17 and 2 more paychecks they will begin,no amount listed.i filed on 10/19...can they still garnish me w an open BK?

No, they can't proceed - your automatic stay stops the garnishment.
