something in another thread has me confused.
We have 2 cars, one leased that we plan to reaffirm. It's current on payments, shouldn't be a problem.
The other is a 1992 VK Jetta. We bought it in Jan 2006 for $1K cash. It is about to fall apart. My husband will need to replace it. He's actually been driving it illegally for about a year because it won't pass MA state inspections and we can't afford the repairs to get it to pass, plus it wouldn't be worth it. They would cost more than it is worth.
We will need a new car ASAP. We plan to get another beater with cash... might have as much as $2K by December assuming the car makes it that long. We are filing a CH 7 in a few weeks. Better to get a new car before filing or wait until discharge? I assume we wouldn't be able to do it between filing and discharge. I assumed it was best to wait until discharge. Am I wrong? Thoughts?
