It's better to go with a broker, right? Where do I find one?

I'd like to start looking around, but I don't know where to look!
All of our friends have used realtors and not brokers.
I know I can search and pull some up, but how do I know if they are being honest or not?

First off you should ask friends and family for referrals. You should shop around and try and get 3 different quotes based on your particular scenario and be weary about any quotes that are way out of line as compared to others. I would try a few brokers and maybe a few banks as well. You have a 14 day window to get your credit pulled as many times as you want without hurting your score.

how hard is it to get a mortgage after a chapter 13

To mtg broker in ohio or anyone else that can answer. I am almost done with my chapter 13. So what would be "doable" for a chapter 13er? Is FHA possible? And if so, what would be the criteria other than perhaps a larger downpayment? thanks

        rrockinggramma ,

Yes you can qualify before your dicharge, have you received a completion letter yet ? That is before your discharge. You need the following if you haven't received a completion letter 12 month trustee payments, no collections or late pays while in bankruptcy, and some reestablished credit utillities, cable, cell phone etc....etc. You will also need court approval if you have yet to complete the plan. I'm in Michigan and have been dealing with ch 13 financing for over 2 years, there's a chance I may know your attorney since I have worked with several in the area. Any questions ask away, by the way are you trying to purchase or refinance an existing mortgage ?

The best place to find a real estate agent right now is the line at the unemployment office.
