I am about 200 dollars behind in my student loan, I have been paying them 125 every month, but havent had the extra money to bring myself completely up to date. they said they have sent it to collections. if they got a judgement on me, could they garnish my check for the whole amount I owe, about 2000 or would they just take the 200 dollars? I'll try to catch up soon, just curious.

How much can be garnished from your check depends on the state you live in. In most states, it's between 10% and 25%. However, Texas doesn't allow wage garnishment.Originally posted by cetiya View PostI am about 200 dollars behind in my student loan, I have been paying them 125 every month, but havent had the extra money to bring myself completely up to date. they said they have sent it to collections. if they got a judgement on me, could they garnish my check for the whole amount I owe, about 2000 or would they just take the 200 dollars?
