A couple of months ago, I enrolled in a "legal services" benefit through my employer for about $14 a month. I wasn't sure what it covered, only that it was cheap and figured, "What the heck". Unbeknownst to me, until I checked on it, on a whim today, this benefit actually covers me for legal services rendered on bankruptcy! I called and confirmed that as long as I use one of the plan lawyers (there just happened to be one locally too who focuses on bankruptcy), the only thing I would have to pay for is the court filing fee.
I honestly had no idea I had this benefit, so, if there's anyone out there that might have this benefit, be sure to check for it, and if you don't, it's probably worth getting. It really is one of those things I never thought I'd need and thought I was wasting $7 per pay period on.
