    Who recieves notification of bankruptcy?

I've read and reread everything I can find, but I can't fine the answer to this question. I work in the banking industry, I do not owe my employer any money. I am required to have a checking account this the bank, and I do use that account as my primary account. Will my employer know that I am filing/have filed? I'v not had any judgments or wage garnishment. There is a big mouth that works in the Collections Department, and she usually "shares" her knowledge about whom has filed bankruptcy.
I know that I can't be fired for being BK, but I'm just trying to determine what kind of gossip to be prepared for.

    Thanks!!!

If you have definite knowledge of her "sharing" personal employee information, report her. She should be fired.

      BK is public record.

But there is no inherent reason why your bank would be notified of the BK since the bank is not a creditor of yours. The only people that are "notified" of your BK are the creditors you list in your petition.

I suppose if you file chapter 13 and you are in a district that requires the trustee payment to be made by payroll deduction, then your HR department would be notified.

But, like I said above, BK's are public record, so if someone sees that you filed BK in the newspaper, or whatever, there isn't much you can do if they decide to share that info.

        Thanks

I knew that it could be in the local paper, but lucky for me bankruptcies haven't been lately. I would like to report her, but she's buddy buddy with those that she would be reported to. You know that kind, they are everywhere.

Yes, I know the type, lol.

The public sharing BK knowledge is one thing. An employee in her position sharing information is another thing. Totally against company policy and should be called up on it.
