    freeze your credit report?

Has anyone tried to freeze their credit report? I was reading Liz Westons column today at; http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...ditReport.aspx
and learned that this is available in every state.
Perhaps this would help cut down on some creditor harassment or at least put you in contol of who gets your credit information. Personally, until I get those credit numbers back up where they belong, I dont want anyone checking my credit file.

Yes, this feature is available thru all 3 credit bureaus.....

Just make sure that the only feature you "lock" is the viewing feature - where no one but you can view your credit report.

You do not want to "freeze out" creditors from updating their accounts on your credit report....

But remember when you do this, if someone needs to see your credit report (you buy a car, open an account) you are going to have to unlock and give them access to the account......

Nice feature if your not buying anything for a long period of time..... also helps with identity theft...... (they can't access your records).....

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

Wow, something else I would have never known if not for this site, thanks Westlane.
