It's called bankrupcty fraud. And it depends on how detailed your trustee turns out to be - if he/she sees that your spending for living expenses suddenly dropeed, he/she might start asking what you did to pay for groceries, etc. in that time period.
Fraud is, of course, illegal. Not all crimes are found out, and not all are punished, but the consequences of being caught are pretty steep.

Lots of people sell lots of things. BK people are broke.
If you wanna sell the appliances, just be sure to document.
Sell to a disinterested 3rd party. Someone you do not know. Not a family member or friend.
Write up a bill of sale describing the item being sold and the price. Both parties sign and date.
Deposit the cash into your bank acct. Bank statements are excellent paper trails of where money comes from and goes to.
In your BK paperwork, either you or your attny lists the items sold, the dates, the $$$$'s, and you can say the money was used for living expenses.
Selling "under the table" and living off the cash is much more likely to cause you problems than being up front about what you're doing.
For example,........... You're gonna list expenses. Food and gasoline. Or auto insurance premiums and medical bills. But there's no corroboration with your bank acct statements for such payments.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
