    Hospitals

We included some hospital bills in our bk. Has anyone had any experience on whether or not that hospital would accept you as a patient again (under non-emergency situations)?

Admitting nurses don't know anything about your bankruptcy, and I'm sure that once your MR gets sent to finance they won't wheel you out of there.

If you come in as an emergency patient, by law the hospital must treat you (although they can transfer you to another hospital after your condition is stabilized).

Hospitals and doctors can refuse to treat anyone who is not in an emergency situation whether that person wiped out what was owed to them in bankruptcy or not. However, most hospitals will continue to allow you to come there, although they may require you to put up money ahead to time to receive a complete course of treatment or sign up for a payment plan with their financial department before treatment will proceed.

As far as doctors go, some will continue to treat you after you wipe out what you owe them, but may require you pay the entire amount that will be owed upfront before each visit to do so. Others will continue the same financial set up as you had before you file. Still others will request that you find another physician. Just depends on the doctor.
