Does anyone know of a good company to purchase health insurance from privately? I looked up Blue Cross/Blue Shield of IL online and a general internet quote with limited coverage for a family of 3 was ~ $320/mth.
I'm also looking for a good company to buy term life insurance from, any suggestions?
Thanks u all.......!
You can try www.ehealthinsurance.com to get an idea of what companies charge.
But that quote seems about right. It really depends on the amount of coverage you want.

Plans that are very restrictive and plans that have moderately high cost-sharing will have the cheapest monthly premiums. But will have high deductibles.

That amount actually looks very reasonable for a family of 4 through a private plan. Individual (non-group) health insurance is very, very expensive. Look for a high deductible plan or catastrophic plan, and consider the insurance for major emergencies only such as serious illness or major surgeries.
Unless you're on a lot of expensive medication that must be taken regularly, the added expense of prescription coverage may not be worth it. Places like Drugstore.com sometimes offer great prices on generics.

Thanks...
I found a good insurance plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL, which includes doctor visits and hospitalization expenses. Can anyone answer this question? If the insurance pays 80%, $30 doctor visits and has a $2500 deductible plus a $355 monthly premium - at what point will I have to pay the deductible? Is it only if we have a serious illness and are hospitalized? What about emergency visits?
In that event is it better to get a higher deductible so the premiums are cheaper?
Thanks again..
Its really too hard to answer here, you will have to read your own fine print. If it says Doctor visits are only $30 for your, then they are only $30; however, I fear that any service beyond the mere doctor visit will come out of your pocket until the deductible is reached, but the premium seems awfully high for that to be the case. I suspect the $2500 deductible is limited to certain things, i.e. extending hospital stays etc. given the amount of the premium.

All well and good, as far as the initial costs of health insurance. Later they rise and rise...
They slapped a "pre-existing condition" clause on me plus a $1000 deductible, and $350/mnth. Can't afford that. So, I'm going to wait.
