The last time I used one of my cards was about 2 weeks ago. I've stopped using them since reading the board. My attorney that I will be using didn't seem to think it would be an issue but I don't want any problems when filing. The money that I would have been using to pay the cards with I will now be using to buy food and gas with.Originally posted by keepmine View PostWhen did you last use the cards for purchases or, cash advances?

I'd err on the side of caution and try and put as much time as possible between default and filing. The trustee won't care about when you opened the accounts but, individual creditors may. What you describe is referred to in the banking industry as a "bust-out". Opening several accounts and running them up quickly and then defaulting. That's where a potential problem may arise.

I agree, try to wait the 90 days before filing. And your attorney should care about this.
If you used your cards recently for essentials, ie food, gas ect - then that isn't a big deal. But anything else, I'd wait.Filed Chapter 7 Pro-Se May 29, 2008

Thanks for responding. I've never hear of "bust Out" before. This was over a years time of using the cards. I am still paying on everything with the exception of Citi but was told to stop by the attorney. I was only using select cards for food and gas but I';m still going to wait until March to file.
