    To the IRS standard. But if you are UNDER the median, you don't need the means test, and on schedule I/j you can claim ANy amount of rent you pay as an expense deducted from your income?

    True. The I & J don't have to follow IRS standards. For some categories you must be exact, such as rent, obvious because it's on your lease. Other categories, such as food, clothing, entertainment don't need to follow any standards. However, your lawyer should know what the local trustee will perceive as excessive, or what will fly. If the trustee feels you listed an expense too high he may want to see receipts to prove the amount.
