    Charge-off vs Included in Bankruptcy

What is the difference between the two and if it's something I need to correct. I was discharged 3 months ago from CH7.
    Some of my debts say:

    -Charge-off
    -Included in Bankruptcy
-Included in Bankruptcy-payment deferred 2009 (student loan)

I always thought student loans were non-dischargeable and I didn't expect it to be deviated like that. Does that mean that it's not discharged, but just deferred up until graduation 2009?

Charge-Off is bad. IIB is what you are going for. As far as the student loan, that's odd. Most of them can't be discharged, but some can.

You need to dispute any account showing as charged off. Good luck though. It often takes letters, threats, etc, to get it fixed

If the debt was charged off prior to filing BK then it can say charged off.

Thanks for that info....that's what I was wondering. I had some Charge-offs prior to BK, but we included them in our BK. I was wondering if they would change to IIB. I think I'll try to dispute them as IIB, and see what happens, but won't hold my breath if they don't change.

This is the exact topic I was looking for! I just pulled my credit report and found that a car loan from 1997 is still being reported. It was last updated--get this--in JAN 08! It shows a balance and is listed as "charged off account." This was included in a Chp 13 that was discharged in 2003. Is this listed correctly?? I have several others that show as "charged off" but were all included in my BKY. I had no debts charged off prior to filing. Thanks for any info you can offer...
