WTF!?!?! Explain this one to me!

So I filed BK7 on 12.3.07. Sent letters to all my creditors using the addresses reported on my credit reports. I got a return mail from CMS Cardworks "return to sender-no such street" Double checked the info to make sure I didn't have it wrong. Nope, it's right.
Fast forward to today, got yet another piece of mail back. Called CMS Cardworks who gave me a completely different address to mail BK notice to. In the meantime, I disputed the account because its still being reported as open/charged off/balance due.

CRA's verified info. So explain that to me. How exactly could they verify info with an incorrect address and no freaking phone number listed?

Here's the info off the CRA's
    CMS Cardworks
    101 Woodbury Park West
    Plainview, NY 11803
    no phone number available
    By mail only

    Address they just gave me:
    Merit Bank
    PO box 23356
    Pittsburgh PA 15222

That's not even in the same freaking state!!!

So here are my questions.... #1-How can this not be illegal? How can they use an incorrect address on your credit report, then say you can only contact them by mail? #2 - How can the CRA's say they're verifying anything when they have incorrect information? & #3- Where do I go from here? I'm sending the BK7 info to the address they gave me. But surely this should be/needs to be reported to some governing agency. Should I also send a letter to the CRA's?

I dunno, but when you find out the answer, let me know. I had a student loan that was consolated with a new lender. Lately, the old loan (which doesn't exist, it has been consolidated with new loans) has been reported as <120 days past due> with a balance of zero and a pass due amount of yes, zero!

Sooo..apparently I am <pass due> on a loan with a zero balance. This old loan is showing up on my credit report. When I call the number, it is forwarded to a different lender (Citibank) since the old lender is no longer around.

Citibank says "oh yes, you are current" and I tell them to report is as such. The do, and it is reflected on my report, but the old loan is still showing up. I asked TransUnion to verify it and of course they said the did. Twice! I have no idea how they can verify a pass due loan with a lender that doesn't exist anymore but they can. This has been going back and forth for about a year now. I am <this> close to filing a small claims, maybe that will get someone up off their ass to investigate this..

Don't you just hate CRA's! I truly believe some hire incompetent staff to enter data information. When it comes to sending letters to a creditor that has been involved in a BK, don't use the one on the Credit Report. While it may be incorrect as you have discovered, it is usually not to the correct address that will handle your problem (I believe the CRA's have other online or data options to verify your information with creditors - they provide that address for you to contact the creditor if needed; they probably do not use it themselves). Look up your creditor online and look for their contact information. The majority of the time you will find an address for correspondence if your account is in bankruptcy with them, or there is a customer service number you can call as to where you should direct correspondence.
