Hello everyone. WE just had our chapter 7 (converted from 13) discharged on 6/27/05 and we have been looking at purchasing a new home. We are working with a mortgage broker and our closing for new house is scheduled for July 22nd, I am a little worried but everyone keeps telling me not to be. WE haven't received a final commitment letter yet, and the mortgage broker said this is very typical and the lender usually doesn't issue this until right before closing. Does anyone have experience with this? I am very excited but scared that something might fall through at the last minute (we have good income, very low debt ratio, and 5 years each on our jobs). The mortgage broker said he can assure us that he does not see any problems in our way of getting our loan closed, and he was referred to me by a very reputable bank in my town. I have the 10% for the down payment. I have heard horror stories about mortgage brokers saying they are going to close on a home and then everything falling through a day or two before closing, can anyone think of any reason I should worry, or should i just start packing?
