Where & how to find GOOD attorney?

We are in the process of finding an attorney to weigh our options. From what I read a good attorney is priceless. There are probably a 100+ bk lawyers in the yellow pages, I don't want to ask around my friends or work? Who do I go to for good referrals in my area and what am I looking for? Any help is appreciated.

Sitting in on a day of 341's might be good. I noticed right away yesterday at my 341 who were the good prepared attorneys and what law firms did not put a lot of effort into it. I also belive there are websites that might assist so others may chime in. lastly I believe many people had success using local trustess that also handle BK cases.

He was a little pricier but his expertise from being a trustee since 1982 was PRICELESS!

And when the U.S. Trustee showed interest in our case, one letter to him from our attorney and it was over. No more interest.

Here is a link to a list of the local trustees. Many of them are also private practice attorneys. **CAUTION** Do not meet with too many of them. It will taint your trustee pool!

PLEASE NOTE: I am not a lawyer. Bankruptcy may or may not be a best scenario for you. It depends on your situation. You may assume my advice is totally useless (my wife does, and she’s probably right). Talk to an experienced bankruptcy attorney (or three) in your jurisdiction for legal advice.

Call your State Bar Association and ask for referrals for the best BK attorneys in your area - you will not be sorry.
