We have nothing on ours but I was looking at another family members who was in a 13 but is turning it over to a 7. They have a crap load of claims from financial institutes. What are all those claims for?

Claims register is simply a list of those creditors that have filed Proof's of Claim in your case. In a chapter 7, that page will usually be empty unless the trustee designates your case an asset case. When the trustee designates a chapter 7 as an asset 7, a notice goes out to all your creditors requesting that they file a proof of claim.
