    DMV Vehicle Information

Hi All, I'm gathering all the documentation for my attorney and I have a question about the vehicle information.

I'm supposed to provide my attorney with a "DMV vehicle abstract of title and lien information". I still have a loan on the vehicle. When I went to my state DMV website it said I could request a "vehicle record" for a vehicle that I own.

I wanted to ask you all first, before I stood in line at DMV, can I get a DMV abstract on a vehicle I don't own?

    Thanks in advance for responsing.

Probably not. I think you have to be listed as the owner of record in order to get the copy.

Thank you for responding. This car info part is causing me the most angst. He has asked for the "dmv abstract of title and lien info, payoff statement from creditor, date of purchase, purchase price, mileage, and the automobile insurance declaration page".

The insurance info and payoff I know how to get. The other 2 items, I wasn't sure about getting. Now, my plan is to provide my own typed piece of paper, created from my memory, of the purchase information, in lieu of the dmv abstract.
