    Expenses - Living with Parents

I'm trying to determine my expenses for Schedule J but it's proving difficult. I don't have any income and haven't since July 2007 so I don't need to worry about the means test. But I'm still not sure how to handle my expenses. I live with my parents and have since well before I incurred any debt. I have never paid them rent - the money I would have paid them was saved so that I could eventually move out. I also didn't reimburse them for utilities or grocery costs. The only thing I paid them for was my car insurance and I haven't paid them that since July 2007. They've pretty much been paying for everything for 10 months. How can I accurately determine my expenses? Should I just use the IRS averages? I don't want to do anything that calls unnecessary attention to my case.

Have they been paying your other bills too (ie - credit cards) or have you just let them all go and now you want to file?

I'm not really sure what someone does in your situation so here's a bump at least.
11/14/07 -filed C7 12/04/07 -case pulled for random audit.12/18/07 -341 held: Asset case due to engagement ring & tax return.02/19/08 - US trustee files motion to extend. 04/02/08- changed back to NO ASSET! I get my ring back and get to keep my tax return! :clapping: 04/28/08 -DISCHARGED!!! :yahoo::yahoo: 05/07/08 - CLOSED!!!

With no income, I doubt it matters. I use zero as expenses if, you're not paying anything. With no income, it's a wash.
Have you talked to a lwyer?
The problem with claiming expenses with no job will be, the trustee askimg where the money is coming from to pay these bills.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the truth. I'm living at home and my parents are picking up the tab.

DivorceRuinedMe, no, they haven't been paying any of my bills. I was making payments on everything out of my savings until December when my savings ran out. I sold a few things here and there to pay bills but I don't have anything left to sell. Right now the bills just aren't being paid.

keepmine, I have spoken to a lawyer but I'm trying to handle my case pro se. There's really not much to it since I don't have any real assets or money and 90k in bills. I'm just hung up on these expenses.

I think it's a non issue. You have no income and, you have no expenses. Just a string of zeros on the schedules. Go with that.
