WHAT KIND OF PET DO YOU HAVE?
Animals play such an important role in our lives these days! They are always there to cheer us up, let us know we are loved, especially when life is sometimes hard to deal with.
During my BK, my brown/white beagle (Minnie) and my beagle/bassett mx (Molly) were my "rock".........
They were always there to comfort me, add humor to my day (my sense of humor took a beating in BK), and to let me know I was not alone in this world.
They don't "ask" anything of you except to love them back!
Pets are the best "stress relief" around......with no back talk from them!!! LOL
SO 3 CHEERS FOR OUR "ANIMAL BUDDIES" FOR ALL THEY GIVE TO OUR LIVES....................!!!!!!!

It was at my uncle's wedding three weeks ago. They had a Tropical theme, and it was a complete blast!
legal artist 07-24-2005, 05:44 AM I have three huge rescued dogs that came from shelters I am active with. They are the most incredible creatures! Two are therapy dogs now, and another is being trained as a service animal. I also have two insane kitties and a cockatiel.
Tgolfer123 07-25-2005, 11:26 AM I have a cat, courtesy of my wife. Love it, but also love my furniture. So it's a battle :)
robivi3 07-26-2005, 04:29 AM Long haired Chihauhauh "Princess". "goofball" is her pet, pet name from me. great dog, smart as can be. Definitely a "people" dog. Very loving and communicates very well. Knows my weakness, at dinner time she throws those milk dud eyes my way and pounds my knee with her paw until I follow her to the stove.
Minnymouth 07-26-2005, 04:37 AM Tgolfer123
Have that little baby declawed. I had two cats - one for 24 years and another for 17 years. Took their front claws out when they were less than a year old. Left the back ones - cause they do all the damage with the front ones.
And don't think they can't defend theirselves, mine could whip a dog and still climb trees only with back claws. They just didn't damage furniture anymore.
Also, don't feed you cat milk (only occassionally - once a month). Helps keep the bad smell out of their litter box from urine. A vet told me about this years ago - and it works!
Have a good one,
Minny
robivi3 07-27-2005, 05:48 AM My other pet "Big Red" beloved GMC. Had her since she was a 7 mile old P'up. The nasty man tried to take her away, but didn't. Sorry for the file upload, no more website and haven't bothered with Bellsouth storage.
Tin, you are just plain cute as a button. Take that as a well meaning compliment from a married person.
Minnymouth 07-27-2005, 06:34 AM
Robivi3.....
We know "who rules" at your house - and it ain't you, lol!!
Bet you cook breakfast or that "baby" of yours.
Mine have biscuits and gravy or ham and eggs on weekends with me. They love pancakes "spoonfed" off of a fork!!!
Talk about some spoiled pets. Some of us take better care of our pets - then some people take care of their kids!!
Robivi3 - "all dogs have their day - and Tin is in her prime" - me and you, that's a different story!
Wanta see a face you can love??? Check out my attachment!

babycakes 07-27-2005, 06:42 AM I have a grey cat "Shelby", just found a miniature Schnauzer 2 months ago "Lucy", and several salt water fish - my daughter's favorites are the 2 clown fish "Nemo and Harpo".
robivi3 07-27-2005, 01:40 PM Min, she knows "McDonalds", "Bar-b-que", "ya' wanna go?", "Dan", "Ben", "Josh" and a host of other words and thinks that my mother-in-law and stepmother are always coming to visit her. She loves Salmon, Ox Tail and steak NO ONIONS and always has her own meal cooked before ours.
My wife cannot take her to the Vet, she will poop and pee everywhere. I take her, she shivers and honest to God I tell her "look we're not gonna have any of that silliness" and she gets more or less OK. In the examining room she puts her front paws on my forearm and buries her head in my armpit. They have to muzzle her if my wife takes her. We got her when she was two weeks old, TO Young, but the couple that bread her was having a messed up divorce and she would have been homeless, take her now or forget it. She slept in my shoe.
She sleeps at the foot of our bed. She is an excellent watchdog. The the dog barks, bullet bites, the thief dies. The bullet barks, the dog bites, the the thief sues. Better the dog only barks. she is very loving to the whole family and has a good understanding of our vocabulary.
Minnymouth 07-28-2005, 05:18 AM :beee:
Yep Robivi3 - I WAS RIGHT!! You don't rule at your house, "Princess" does, lol.
Same at my place - "the girls" do......
My babies are "party animals", too......
Since my house is the local gathering place (wet bar in a dry county) for everybody, we have lots of parties here.
All office parties, birthday parties, cookouts, lau's, and Sunday race days are at Dee's Place!
At any given time there can be up to 30 people here, plus small gathering of 6-8 for one reason or another.
My girls "love it"...... all the attention!!!!!! Soooooooo, they are "very well mannered" - I DEMAND IT! They mind so great to the snap of a finger. People want to leave their kids with me so I can "train them too", lol.
When the "crowd" starts gathering, they love it. When people are there they know they get to play with the "laser light" (on a key chain).....they chase it till their exhausted....Molly starts looking for it when a crowd gathers, lol.
If you don't have one, get "Princess" one and watch her play...... it's GREAT! And good exercise for her, too.
You said your GMC is your other pet, lol. I used to have a 1966 Ford Mustang convertiable that I would "kill" over!!! It finally had a heart attack and died. GOSH I MISS IT......
WE ALL LOVE OUR PETS......what would we do without them.....??
Each new one that comes into my life is special in their own way.....they bring a joy and pleasure that nothing else can in life. Most of mine are "dog pound" rescues!
So my "girls" get the "best" of everything life can offer them. Momma eats steak, they do too. Momma has a featherbed - they love theirs, also.
At my house it's "love me, love my dogs".....or take a hike!! Been known to tell a few men to "take a hike", lol. Especially when they say - the dogs have to go... DUH - GO WHERE?? Dogs were here first, lol.
My "girls" don't travel well, one get's car sick every time...
even a quick trip to the vets.
YEP - we all love our pets. Dogs, cats, birds, fish, doesn't make any difference. They add a calmness to our lives that we all need. Too many of us "they are our companions and best friends".
When we're upset, they console us. They seem to undersand that something is "wrong". They stay right by our side! Bless their little hearts! They ask no questions! They are just "always there" for us!!
Have a good day, folks!!
Tell us about your Pet.....

robivi3 08-02-2005, 07:35 AM I was offline for six days, major mess caused by imbeciles at Earthlink. I have bellsouth DSL since '99. Someone else registered my number as a new earthlink account. The bastards at Bellsouth shutdown my account and all of a sudden no DSL!
Long story, filing FCC complaints against both sets of morons. The problem began whan Supertelecom gave someone my phone number and said it would be their new number.
Idiots.
I want to purchase a small car for the hills, min they are very nice to drive in those areas.
legal artist 08-03-2005, 05:25 AM Just rescued a new pooch!
He is a beautiful English Pointer that is just full of love! He has had a really hard life, but I feel confidant that he will overcome just like our other guys have.
Minnymouth 08-03-2005, 08:10 AM Your an
Give that baby a new home...... and lots of love.....they probably deserve it. Yeah, what's one more mouth to feed, huh!!!
Wish I lived on a farm..............it would be animal heaven at my house if I did..... :D

robivi3 08-27-2005, 11:27 AM Yep, major cleanup for a light hurricane again. Of the seven killed four were in our area, all went out to "look at it". Oh well, here are some pics of our beloved and thoroughly spoiled Princess an long haired Chiuahuah. She is a spoiled Mexican Lady.
She sleeps in our bed most nights. She will remind my wife when it's time to go to sleep. She loves salmon, oxtail and steak no onions. This dog has never had to be housebroken, won't get her paws wet and sets her "dolls" and arranges her bed in the den for five to ten minutes a day. The dolls and toys she will rearrange if you move them. When she is done playning with you (throwing them and attacking her with them she automatically puts them back in the bed). I don't allow anyone to ever touch her while she is in her bed, so i guess she knows that's her place.
Long hairs are very intellegent and calm, they are especially wonderful for older people, they loving animals and family oriented. She loves to sit on my wifes lap and just be petted. My wife has to carry her and she goes limp when my wife comes from work. This is the most loving animal I have ever seen and I've had some good dogs and bad ones.
When one of the kids is sick she will sleep in their bed until they are better. If an older person needs a dog, I recommend this breed highly.

Now she is a "cutie"..... how sweet!!! Now if she drinks tequila your in trouble.... the men will hang around your house......
You said 4 people died in your area from the hurricane - sure hate to hear that...
AT least you were luck - New Orleans is not going to be!!
Glad your alright......

accentone 08-31-2005, 12:22 PM six kitties, two big dogs. two of the kitties came from the local pound. A couple years later, a stray came up my sidewalk. shortly after, she had five babies. my 11 year old somehow convinced me into keeping three. crazy, i know. but we love them all. i know what you mean about the furniture. i can't bring myself to get the declawed (plus, it's expensive).
one golden retriever, and one collie mix we got from the humane society. he brainless, but we love him anyway.
robivi3 08-31-2005, 12:27 PM Min, I'd always had males. I see what you love about your lovely girls. Females stick close to home.
Minnymouth 08-31-2005, 03:53 PM Robivi3,
I've always had females except one male - a big german shepherd, labador mix.... Real nice dog, very strong...
He's the one I mentioned on a thread that the neighbor go drunk and shot in my yard and killed. He went in front of a judge that was head of the Humane Society. Least to say - HE PAID DEARLY.............
My females have been white belgium shepherd, border collie, dalmatian, brown spotted beagle, and beagle/bassett mix.
Also had two cats over the years - black perisian - one i had 17 years and the other 24 years.... GOOD OLE GIRLS....dogs loved them too!!!
NOT COUNTING ALL THE STRAYS - I've found homes for.....
You know - dogs attract dogs, etc........
Word travels fast when a dog has a "good home"................his buddies want to move in!!!!
Love my babies, almost better company than any man I ever knew....(well, almost, lol) No "lip" from them anyways......
Top of the day to ya,
Minny :D
Minnymouth 08-31-2005, 03:58 PM I was looking at "princess" picture again - yes, milk dude eyes sure does fit her!!!
My bassett has those really sad eyes sometimes - kills me!!!! Looks like she lost her best friend....but really she's happy...
Minny
babycakes 08-31-2005, 05:59 PM Well Minny, I have to agree on the 'babies' being good companions...no lip! At least my schnauzer is like that. The cat is all attitude and if I do something she doesn't like, she 'fusses' at me FOREVER....worse than any man I've ever known....following me room to room with me apologizing over and over....lol. The dog is sweet. Her only quirk is she's scared of the hardwood floors. She puts her paw out gingerly to touch it and draws it back like it's a hot stove. She's the one I just found last month, so I'm working on the quirk, otherwise she's great, expensive though. I had no idea they cost this much. Had to go get all the shots and stuff which is a lot when you are trying to do everything with cash now.
Minnymouth 09-01-2005, 05:06 AM Yeah they can be a little expensive at first.... They need their shots to protect them and you too (especially if they bite someone)
Dogs are very sensitve creatures, in fact all animals are!! They feel you laughter, sadness, nervousness, etc. And if your sick - their right by your side!!!!
The human race could learn a lot from animals.......devotion, compassion, affection, unconditional love...etc.
Wish I knew more animals, the human race can be so "disappointing"....
Minny
Minnymouth 09-01-2005, 05:17 AM Babycakes,
That pup is afraid of the hardwood floors because it slides on it too easily..... no control over paws.... nothing to grip too!!
I love a cat with an attitude..... both of mine years ago had attitudes....
Minny
Well I personally dont have a cat or dog. But I'm gonna purchase myself a pentagon style fish tank. :-) Hopefully, I can get this fish tank thing right, the second time around, there were several causulties the first time!
babycakes 09-01-2005, 09:05 AM Oh yeah!!! I have a salt water fish tank too! I have 2 Nemos, a Dori, a bunch of Chromis, and another Tang, plus starfish, shrimp, long and short spine urchins, crabs and snails.
Minnymouth 09-01-2005, 10:59 AM HEY TODD,
Maybe Babycakes can "help" you with your fish problem..... at least the saltwater kind.
My tanks were full of angel fish (the size of my hand) and also had a coy pond......when I lived in Georgia.
Many years ago, in Georgia, I lost a lot of fish because I put the wrong ones together - they ate each other!!! But nobody would tell me any different...
LOVE the "hexagon" tanks.......so neat................
I want a 200 gallon tank full of angel fish again someday soon...
Fresh water fish you have to "make sure" you put stuff in the water to dissolve all the chemicals (chlorine especially) in the tap water. It will kill them quickly.
Also, don't buy real small fish - they will get hung up in your filter system....most of them are "feeder fish" anyways (like those as Walmart). A good pet store that deals in mostly fish is a good place to invest. And their vast knowlodge of what fish can be put togethr is very helpful.....
HINT... HINT..... If you will pull pantyhose over your filter inside your filter system....you will never have to replace a filter for years!!! Just pull off the dirty peice of pantyhose and replace with another. WORKS FOR ME............. filters are expensive sometimes in these big systems.
Just a FISHY THOUGHT FOR THE DAY,
Minny
babycakes 09-01-2005, 11:42 AM My tank is a 72 gal bowfront. It is beautiful. The hardest part is keeping the temperature regulated. It can't fluxuate more than 2 degrees, which can be hard with the temp changes. I lost a lot of fish initially too, but haven't lost any for a long while now. I go to a fish store that specializes in saltwater fish. The fly-by-night and more generalized stores don't know all the ins and outs. Kind of like filing pro se, instead of using a lawyer. I want someone who KNOWS what they are doing, not just what they think is the right way to do it. I have had much better luck since switching to the Fish store. And in fact this guy is so great he has people who drive over 4 hours to get his help and buy his fish because they know they aren't sick.
TatteredInTexas 10-02-2005, 09:36 AM This is my bud,
Don't know what I would do without him. He's been a comfort when nothing else even came close (for both me and my wife).

dumbpig 10-02-2005, 10:21 PM I have a beautiful golden retriever named addison whom I share custody of with my wife. Its a wonderful dog who I have spoiled and it refuses to listen to me. I still however love this dog very much
Minnymouth 10-03-2005, 05:34 AM TatteredinTexas,
Beautiful irish setter......love them. Years ago I found a home for a stray irish setter. Starved to death when she came to my home (course my pregnant shepherd didn't like her)... the setter was preg too, we just didn't know it. Found her a home on a farm with kids....man said the babies would be a nice experience for his kids and they kept 3 of them..... all beautiful irish setters.
Had I not had my White Belguim shepherd I would have given the irish setter a good home...
She was beautiful....

Minnymouth 10-03-2005, 05:35 AM dumbpig,
Hard to share a dog........which half is yours?? lol
I know its hard to have to share....hope you never have to give it up....

almost_homeless 10-03-2005, 11:35 AM i want a dog, but dh says i can't till we decide where we are gonna be. I want a small dog, doesn't have to be any particular breed. Not a puppy but an adult dog. I went to the local shelter, and all they had was very large dogs and puppies. i guess i will keep looking.
Genenco 10-04-2005, 03:44 AM Back in 98, I saw a small 3 line ad for 2 dogs..Well, I called and they said the dogs had been abandoned. I got their home address and took off..Oh heck.."Look before you leap" hey?
After 85 MILES of driving, I finally find the place (I was new to area) and saw what they had. Both males, then funny thing was they either didn't know how to check the sex of a dog, or were too embaressed. As they said "One was a female" soooo..I said "OK, I'd take them"
These people were the nice type, on disability and yet, good enough to feed a couple of starving dogs.
So, I head home (After a fill up) and hit the local vet. $135 later, I walk out and then to a pet store after another $100 I finally get home.
Now, it's 7 years later. They have been joys (And some funny/scary moments) in my life and I am glad I made that long drive to save 2 from an all too brief life.
Some people ask me, how I feel about the previous owners..I reply.."No, I don't care to kill them, just give them a couple taps on the knees with a baseball bat and then let them crawl to medical help"
Yes, I may be nasty, but I'd at LEAST give them a chance, not that they did for the dogs I took into my life.

Great story! If i had room for the larger dogs i would adopt a whole slew of them. And i wish i could adopt puppies, but i don't think i would have time to get them potty trained. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i just want a dog.
whtsamada 10-05-2005, 04:46 PM I have 2 cats...a maine coon named Tiki Kat and a Russian Blue named Cooper
Yes I do have pets- I have 2 dogs- one is a full breed mini doxie, and the other is half doxie and half terrier- I also have a ton of fish.
sunshine08 10-07-2005, 04:38 AM Just lost my pet of over 12 years, a albino frog appropriately named crackhead. He had translucent skin and beady pink bulgy eyes. Named him that after he started eating all the fish in my tank. That sucker get out of the tank, he was truly an escape artist. Used to have him in my office at work until he escaped one too many times. I could sear he knew my voice because when I came in and would talk to him and he would be all over the tank. (no, I am not crazy, I have taken two psychologicals since having him, work related requirements).
Have had 2 chinese pugs, boykin spaniel, a cat named moonshine and now we just have one cat, my grandson has named Bruce.(he names everything Bruce).
Animals are a great comfort.
babycakes 10-27-2005, 07:26 PM My daughter (11 yrs) and the schnauzer we found a couple of months ago won a Halloween contest today for most original costumes. They were dressed up as cats! The dog will now need therapy for an identity crisis, but they were cute as buttons..lol.
Minnymouth 10-28-2005, 09:00 AM Yeah, mine are suffering from identity problems too!!!
THEY THINK THEIR HUMAN
They set on the couch, watch tv, play in the yard, eat steak and potates, and sleep in a feather bed.
Mine don't now what the word "dog" means.........
