Filing Bankruptcy in Las Vegas, NV
Hi, I am currently on Social Security Disability and I live in Las Vegas, NV. I went to see an attorney that accepted payment plans & he refused to take my money. He told me to go to the local legal forms place & pick up a Chapter 7 Kit and Do it myself. I am pretty lost now. I just got the kit but I'm not sure what forms I need to fill out or if they all have to be filled out. I don't own a home or have any assets of value. I only receive $644.00 per month as far as my income. Back in January Capital One tried to serve me a judgement but I wasn't home. I called the court house & its been sitting there since last year with no action taken. One of the biggest reasons I need to file is that my condition may improve and I may have to go back to work.
All of my debt is from Credit Cards (About $20,000) & Medical Bills (About $1400)
My questions are as followed:
Do I still need a lawyer if a judgement has been filed on me?
Are their any special forms I need to add or fill out regarding this
judgement or do I just list it with the creditors name and note the
judgement number?
Do I need to fill out all the forms in this kit?
I am really frustrated having been told I should just file it myself by this attorney. He makes it sound like its really easy to do but I am hearing you have to have the paperwork filled out and put in different formats for the court, etc.
Other than an attorney, I Wish there were someone who could help me fill this stuff out
