i keep reading about how credit cards ruined their lives and now going on bk7 or 13. now i read that they have cards again and spending on high priced items, as soon as they are cleared of bk. how could they do that. getting credit back will take you guys back to bk. i understand about eccentials, but,you have little debt or none at all. i 'm learning my lesson as i'm going into bk7. it's just sad to hear that. please spend your cash wisely and forget credit cards. everyone is different, but we all went or are going through the same stages of bk.

Building credit after BK is not a bad thing unless the filer did not learn the lesson. I for one, do not ever want to see another credit card but will need credit when I go to purchase a car in a few years, so will need to obtain some credit before then to build up my rating.
Some of us will go right back to our old dangerous ways of using credit (don't anyone get me wrong here---I am not saying that everyone in this forum is here because of irresponsibility, there are plenty who fell on hard times through no fault of their own). Neither your post nor mine will stop or influence the irresponsible among us who choose not to learn the lesson.

I do agree with you, I am so scared of cc, I really can't imagine having another one. I would like to have decent credit again, but not using cc to get it. Hopefully we can borrow for a car down the road and start rebuilding that way. CC make me a nervous wreck and I do worry my DH might get one if given the chance.
