Filing date for new bankruptcy law

My understanding is the the new Bankruptcy law takes effect on Oct. 5th. Does that mean that I can make my initial filing any time before that date and be considered "under the old law" or do I have to have the meeting with the trustee completed by Oct. 5th. Thanks

Actually, the effective date of the new bankruptcy law is October 17, 2005, but yes, you can file anytime before that day and your bankruptcy will be administered under the "old law"
